Daily Micro Bust Sketches

I dont know about you guys, but when I begin any sort of creative project, I start with enthusiasm and zeal but, the longer I work on something, the more the spontaneity and creativity get beaten out of it. The perfectionist in me will pick a sculpt, like a scab on a wound, until all the life and zest is completely destroyed and my enthusiasm lost. Instead of the joy of sculpting that I love so much, it becomes an arduous task, and many projects end up unfinished.

To combat this I starting a this project.

Everyday, for a year starting Nov. 1 2009, I will spend 1 - 1.5 hours working on a small sketch bust or whatever I feel like that day. Perfection is not the key. If I can capture a feeling or likeness that I am going for, fantastic, good for me. If it ends up looking like crap wrapped around some wire, fantastic, I learned a lesson. As long as something gets done I am happy. I know from the outset there is now way I will be impossible to do one everyday. Work, sickness, drunkenness, social life, will all inevitably get in the way but I am going to try real hard to do it everyday.
